The Middle School Coding Club is looking for volunteers to serve as Assistant Advisors for club sessions on Wednesday or Thursday mornings from 7:00-7:55. The ideal volunteer will have coding experience (or the willingness to learn) and will be able to study the tutorials before meeting with students. The students will be working with XCode or SNAP! Festival of Curiosity : Solstice Craft Event

Come make trendy, Pinterest-inspired crafts in this after-school program. Crafts include string art, galaxy jars, metal art, paper snowflakes, fortune tellers, playing charades, and much, much more!
Register either by emailing with student’s name/grade or adding student’s name to sign-up sheet at the front office of CEMS. Payment can be made via PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/FestivalofCuriosity/20) or by giving a check (made payable to Festival of Curiosity) to the front office of CEMS.
All students must be registered and paid by Friday, December 15th to attend. Please sign-up early as space is limited. Pond Cove siblings of CEMS students may attend if a CEMS or CEHS student agrees to partner with them.

5th & 6th Grade BOYS & GIRLS: The 5th & 6th Grade Travel League involves teams from surrounding communities. Games will be played in Cape Elizabeth and surrounding communities. The first series of weekend games will begin Nov 11th. Teams will have one or two practice time slots per week TBD, and one or two weekend games. Fee includes travel league fee, practice t-shirt and Saturday clinics.
7th & 8th Grade GIRLS TRAVEL TEAM will compete against other teams from surrounding communities (November- early January), in this travel league prior to Middle School teams starting in mid January. Games will be played in Cape Elizabeth and surrounding communities. The registration deadline for the girls program was October 20th.
7th & 8th Grade BOYS TRAVEL TEAM will compete against other teams from surrounding communities (January-early March), in this travel league after the Middle School teams play in November. Games will be played in Cape and surrounding communities.
Hockey season is just around the corner. We are expecting to have enough skaters to field two teams, one in each of the SMMSHL Conferences. Information on the league can be found here: http://www.smmshl.com or contact at 207-799-0343.

Some dates to save. Assessments/Practices have been scheduled for the following Sunday date at Troubh Ice Arena 6:40pm-7:40pm. Nov 5th. Please do your best to make these dates, as we will be forming teams based on these skates. The season start date is tentatively Nov 5th and will run through April with Playoffs in March. There will be no games Dec 24th, Dec 31, or Jan 14th. Our numbers are shrinking. You can help!
If you know of any 4th, 5th or 6th graders who skate and might be interested, please pass this information to them. There are plenty of opportunities for 4th graders to start skating now and be ready to play with us next year. Also, all pond skaters are welcome to come try hockey with us in this low pressure environment.
On Saturday, November 18, Cape Elizabeth is hosting a VEX Robotics tournament at CEMS. Six to eight STEM judges are needed for the event. The judges are responsible for working in pairs or triples to interview and observe the approximately 30 robotics teams. (Typically, a robotics team is 3-4 students.) Then, the judges award trophies such as “Excellence Award,” “Design Award,” and “Judges Award.”
It’s a full day; STEM judges volunteer from 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM.

The enrollment will be open today until Thursday, September 7th. Students may only participate in one sport. Practices will begin on Thursday, September 7th. All sport game calendars can be located on the CESD website.
Please make sure all medical forms and athletic fees ($70.00 – checks payable to CESD) are taken care of or you will be unable to participate, please see the attached checklist. The checks can be dropped off at CEMS main office.
